Let’s talk about the considerations for industrial coating, There are various considerations in the application of industrial coatings. These include:

    Substrate Surface Preparation

The substrate or substrates receiving the protective layer must be clean for the industrial coating to be strong. Most industrial coatings rely on mechanical or physical bonds to stick tightly to the substrate surface. The chemical bonding to the substrate surface forms an impenetrable protective layer. If the surface is not completely clean (that is, if the surface contains dust particles, chemicals, or other contaminants), industrial coatings are likely to fail prematurely.

The key to the successful application of industrial coatings is the preparation of the surface to be coated. Moisture, drying contaminants, and salts must be removed from the substrate surface using the correct techniques, such as heating processes, blasting procedures, and chemical cleaners, before starting the process. Proper surface cleaning before coating prevents cracking, blistering, adhesion failure, crocodile, bubbling, and peeling.

    Choosing the Right Coating System

In every industrial coating program. Primers aid in the long-lasting performance of coatings and sealants that adhere to the substrate surface. When incompatible substrate and coating materials are present, primers help them work together. It also aids in the final aesthetics of the part by removing imperfections at the surface level.

Once the application of the primer is complete, the substrate is ready for the coating process. There are different types of coating processes. Each coating method is designed to completely cover the substrate in a protective coating material. The size and complexity of the substrate affect the method of application of the coating. The following are the most common industrial coating processes: dip, brush, roller, spray, spin coat, and flow coat.

    Curing and Drying

The properties of industrial coatings are affected by the curing and drying process. If the curing and drying procedures are not correct, then the industrial coating is likely to perform poorly. Every industrial coating must have a product data-sheet that provides optimum coating results with the correct drying and curing procedures.

Industrial coatings require a proper curing process at the proper temperature. The temperature specification applies to the temperature of the substrate, but not to the temperature of the oven. This is why different thickness sections bake at different times.

When choosing the right industrial coating method, both the equipment and the coating material are important. The best industrial paint lines require strong pump seals, clean filters and spray heads, and regular flushing of air lines. Without regular equipment maintenance, the results may be substandard or defective.

Industrial coatings suppliers should work with customers to ensure review of feedback from application personnel, cleaning of work areas and regular maintenance of equipment.
